JJ has a strong passion for golf and academics. College golf led to many opportunities he would not of had otherwise. After finishing his golf eligibility at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Masters Degree, JJ went on to college college golf at Ohio State University and Rice University. JJ wanted to give back to golf by mentoring other junior golfers and their families to purse their dreams of playing college golf. This led to the formation of The Student Athlete Foundation, a not-for-profit 501-c3 organization, offering junior golfers the opportunity to showcase their talents and pursue their dream of playing college golf no matter what their financial background may be.
As time went on, junior golfers are not the only golf segment that has benefitted from SAF. In 2015, the PGA Hope selected JJ and the Golf Performance Group to host the "Adaptive Golf Program" for wounded military veterans and amputees. This has led to SAF being more than just a junior golf foundation, where SAF now offers programs to help different segments of the community through the game of golf.
